Guide to a Long-Lasting Back Blade
Top Gun’s products are designed for heavy-duty, rugged service with minimal maintenance. To ensure your back blade provides you with the same high performance year after year; please use it properly and observe the following maintenance precautions.
Inspect the following on a regular basis:
- Regularly tighten all fasteners, pins, nuts, and bolts.
- Check hydraulic lines and connections for signs of wear or leaks.
- Inspect hydraulic cylinders for leaks and ensure rods aren't rusted or pitted.
- Monitor cutting edge wear; we recommend replacing the UHMW when it's about 2” below the mold board.
- Maintain the proper hydraulic fluid level using only Top Gun Back Blade Blend Fluid (or its equivalent). Caution: Do Not Overfill! Annual oil replacement is recommended.
- Check the control harness and power/ground cable connectors for corrosion.
- Wash regularly to prevent salt damage and rusting.
- Change plow fluid every season for best performance.
- Remove battery and put on a maintenance charger in the off season.
- Wash salt and debris off prior to storing for off season.
- Store your back blade in a covered area, shielded from direct sunlight.
- We recommend that batteries be disconnected and put on trickle charger during the off season.
